The New Memories Project is about inspiring those who have experienced the loss of loved ones to move on and create new memories.
Several months ago, I received some news about the sudden and tragic deaths of two people related to my family.
For weeks, I was all over the emotional scale from anger, shock, disorientation and sorrow. I couldn't comprehend where to file an experience of this magnitude. I eventually realized the best thing I could do for myself was to head down the road of what inspires and strengthens me and start creating NEW MEMORIES. I would like this project to stand as a reminder to myself and hopefully others going through difficult times to stay the course of what represents their idea of happiness, do what they love, do it all the time and only look back to say thank you. This project is also about the creative process itself which is always an act of faith. My hope for this project is to have it be a reminder that all things pass and in death, there is always new life for those who embrace it.
I always think of my compositions as part of my family with a character all their own. A few of my family members who will appear on the CD are: Nats Rag, Porch Daze, Rafaella, Faith Blues, Halloween Ball and What's At The End Of The World?
Helping to bring these compositions to life are some of the finest talents around: Marilyn Keller on vocals, David Evans on Sax, Kevin Deitz on bass and the blessings of Executive Producer Janie Martin.
